We had a great time pampering our breast cancer thrivers and their families at our first annual pamper me pink event. Be Strong Therapy partnered with other women-owned local businesses to provide a true evening of pampering! We set up stations of relaxation and education for the women who attended!
Our first station included charcuterie cones by Boards by Alexis, sparkling water and wine as well as great conversation with fellow breast cancer survivors.
We also had amazing time getting facials and makeup by another local business owner, licensed aesthetician, Zana Joiner.
Next, we had a guided progressive relaxation session with our Occupational Therapist and co-owner, Kelly Uanino OT/R, CLT-LANA.
Following an amazing relaxation session, our attendees were able to enjoy a head/neck massage by Be Strong's massage therapists, Chelsea French, LMT, CLT and Bridge Burke-Wammack LMT, CLT.
Not only did we want our ladies to have a relaxing massage, but we also wanted to provide some practical education! One of Be Strong's physical therapists and co-owner, Amber Swords PT, DPT lead our guests through a couple of stretches to help with shoulder range of motion and pec stretching, as this is a common problem for our breast cancer survivors.
Next, our guests moved on to Believe, Hope, Inspire Wellness' station with education and conversation on ways breast cancer can affect relationships. Dianne Presley, LCSW allowed for a safe space to share the effects of breast cancer on friendships, marriages and other significant relationships.
After sharing with other breast cancer survivors and LCSW, Dianne Presley, our community partner, Sallie Dixon, clinical herbalist, provided general recommendations for supplement use to combat the side effects of cancer treatments.
Following this, one of Be Strong's co-owners and physical therapists, Megan Bradley PT, DPT, CLT-LANA, provided education about specific types of compression and pelvic health products and gave our guests a tour of The Boutique at Be Strong.
Our ladies sure were pampered and left with some helpful tips on managing with life during and after breast cancer! We are honored to be able to give back to our breast cancer community here in Tallahassee and the surrounding areas and look forward to hosting this event annually!
